Chapter 1. Men Are from Mars Women Are from Venus

제 1장. 화성에서 온 남자 금성에서 온 여자

 

 

 

 

 

 

Imagine that men are from Mars and women are from Venus.

남자들은 화성에서 왔고, 여성들은 금성에서 왔다고 상상해 보세요. 

 

One day long ago the Martians, looking through their telescopes, discovered the Venusians.

오래전 옛날에, 화성인들은 망원경을 통해 바라보다, 금성인들을 발견했습니다. 

 

Just glimpsing the Venusians awakened feelings they had never known.

잠깐 얼핏 금성인들을 봤지만, 그들이 지금까지 알지 못했던 느낌을 불러일으켰습니다. 

 

They fell in love and quickly invented space travel and flew to Venus.

그들은 사랑에 빠졌고, 재빨리 우주 여행(법)을 발명하였고, 금성으로 날아갔습니다. 

 

The Venusians welcomed the Martians with open arms.

금성인들은 두 팔을 열고(기꺼이) 화성인들을 맞이 했습니다. 

 

They had intuitively known that this day would come.

그들은 이런 날이 올 것을 직관적으로 알고 있었습니다. 

Their hearts opened wide to a love they had never felt before.

그들이 전혀 느껴보지 못한 사랑을 향에 마음을 활짝열었습니다.

 

The love between the Venusians and Martians was magical.

금성인과 화성인의 사랑은 마법같았습니다. 

 

They delighted in being together, doing things together, and sharing together.

그들은 함께 있음에, 함께 하며, 함께 나눔에 즐거워했습니다.  

 

Though from different worlds, they revelled in their differences.

비록 다른 세계에서 왔지만, 그들은 그들의 다름을 한 껏 즐겼습니다. 

 

They spent months learning about each other, exploring and appreciating their different needs, preferences, and behaviour patterns.

그들은 서로 다른 욕구 대한 인식과 탐구, 선호하는 것들, 그리고 행동양식에 대해 배우느라 몇 개월을 보냈습니다. 

 

For years they lived together in love and harmony.

몇 년동안은 사랑과 조화속에 함께 살았습니다. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Then they decided to fly to Earth. In the beginning everything was wonderful and beautiful.

그러다, 그들은 지구로 날아가기로 결정했습니다. 처음에는 모든 것이 경의롭고, 아름다웠습니다.

 

But the effects of Earth's atmosphere took hold, and one morning everyone woke up with a peculiar kind of amnesia - selective amnesia!

그러나, 지구 환경의 영향이 그들을 장악하여, 어느날 아침에 선택적 기억상실증이라는, 이상한 종류의 기억 상실증에 걸려 일어나게 됩니다. 

 

Both the Martians and Venusians forgot that they were from different planets and were supposed to be different.

화성인과 금성인 둘 다 다른 행성에서 왔으며, 다를 수 밖에 없다는 사실을 잊어버렸습니다. 

 

In one morning everything they had learned about their differences was erased from their memory.

하루 아침에 그들이 배워왔던 차이점들의 모든 것이 그들의 기억에서 지워졌습니다. 

 

And since that day men and women have been in conflict.

그 날로부터 남자와 여자는 충돌해 왔습니다.
